Transparency Rwanda will this month open branches in Kayonza, Huye, Musanze and Rubavu Districts in its countrywide expansion drive by 2015, the NGOs Chairperson, Marie Immaculee Ingabire, announced yesterday.
She was addressing the press during the NGO`s annual general meeting where its 2010 report as well as the 2011work plan were presented to members.
"Our pilot expansion strategy has targeted places near borders as we have identified that the population in these places faces more cases of corruption,” Ingabire said.
She explained that although there has been improvement in some institutions that had earlier been listed among the most corrupt, some areas need more efforts.
"According to our survey, the national police has made great improvements in its services,” Ingabire noted.
Among achievements of the year 2010 is a survey on gender and corruption at workplaces that is underway.
Transparency Rwanda is one of the NGO`s that have come into partnership with the Office of the Ombudsman to fight against corruption as well as promote good governance.
