Spearheaded by the president Paul Kagame, the government has started a campaign ‘Tujyane Mexico n’Amavubi U-17’ which literally means ‘sticking with the youngsters throughout their build-up to the World Cup.’
During Friday’s press conference at Primature, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Culture Jean Pierre Karabaranga said, "The campaign is aimed at sensitizing Rwandans to support and accompany the U-17 on their campaign to Mexico,”
According to Karabaranga, the government will help fans in acquiring visas to travel to Mexico.
"The government is ready to help those interested in travelling to Mexico for the World Cup acquire visas,” Karabaranga said.
The Junior Wasps depart for France tomorrow for a 20-day training camp which will be held in southern Paris.
At the end of the camp, the youngsters will test themselves against France’s U-17 national side famously known as the Little Blues.
The game will be played on April 28 in Clairefontaine, Paris.
For the Little Blues, the match is a build-up to the Euro U-17 championship slated to run from May 3-15 in Serbia.
While in France, the team will also play against reserves sides for PSG, Auxerre and Lyon.
After the training camp in France, the team will head to the US from May 18-June 3 for another training camp before connecting to Mexico for the tournament.
The draw for the World Cup will be held on May 17 in Mexico.
