THIS year’s edition of the Peace Cup competition is yet to secure sponsorship.

According to Ferwafa’s competition manager Bonny Nsabimana, the football body is still in talks with last year’s sponsor MTN Rwanda.

Last year, MTN Rwanda CEO Khaled Mikkawi pledged to support this year’s edition. In a press conference, Mikkawi was quoted a s saying, "Through our global sponsorship of the Fifa 2010 World Cup, MTN has demonstrated it is committed to be at the forefront of sports development in the country so we are happy and promise to commit ourselves next year.”

This year, defending champions APR have been drawn against second division side Union in the preliminary round which kicks off on April 27.

The army side beat Rayon 1-0 in last year’s final on their way to a memorable treble. For their triumph, they pocketed Rwf10m while the Blues had to settle for Rwf7m.

The winner of this year’s edition will represent the country at next year’s Orange Confederation Cup.
