This letter is in reference to the article in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes entitled: "EALA roots for single tourist destination.”

A common EAC Visa is the need of the hour to really promote the region as a single tourist destination. If so many countries in the European Union could come together and accept one common Schenzen Visa , there is noreason why the five EAC countries cannot adopt one common visa.

Furthermore, until the common EAC visa is implemented, other EAC countries should reduce visa fees.
 
The Visa fee should not serve as a source of income. Rather, a low visa charge would serve as an added incentive for visitors.

The income would then automatically be generated from hotel accommodation, sightseeing, shopping and other leisure activities in the land of a thousand hills and of a million smiles.
