On the day she was born, Uwase said her dad thought her mother was kidding when she confirmed that it was time to go to the hospital.
Instead it was her uncle who took charge of the situation just and drove her mom to hospital because her father had refused to fall for the joke.
It was not until, she was born that Uwase’s dad was impressed at how elaborate this little Fool’s Day prank had become true.
As an infant Uwase became part of a comedy routine that appeared to be a practical joke amongst her family and friends.
Ben Oyeye, a pastor at New Life Bible church –Kicukiro says that he has no idea about the origin of April Fool’s day.
"No matter who came up with it, I think it’s a good idea because it’s a fun thing to do. But I guess there must have been a really big fool in history and probably it started from there on,” Oyeye said.
Pastor Oyeye emphasizes that Fools Day is not doctrinal and that there is no legendary meaning associated with being born on April 1st.
"If I happen to have my son or daughter born on this day, I will say to him or her that you’re funny,” he added.
Cotilida Mutesi is an expecting mother she wouldn’t mind giving birth on Fools Day.
"I think it would be a big fun-day and I know pretty cool people with April 1st as their birthday.
I also think it would be funny because when you call people to tell them you had a baby they wouldn’t know if they should believe you or not,” Mutesi said.
James Rugwizangoga, a father of three says that Fools Day is like any other day unless you make a big deal out of it.
"I guess in the olden days there was more fun made of it than today. So don’t worry too much about what others say.
I don’t think that it is weird at all. Trust me there are worse days someone could be born on. I say when they are ready to come let them come no matter what the day is,” he said.
Rugwizangoga adds that April 1st is filled with giggles and smiles and believes that it’s, "okay to have fun but people don’t have to do things to hurt other people.”
"Fans of Fools Day should treat others as they would want themslves treated. Get there before they get you and have a bit of harmless fun,” he said.
