NATIONAL volleyball team Coach Paul Bitok says the future of the team is bright after their latest success in the Zone 5 Championship/ All Africa Games qualifiers.

Rwanda came through unscathed in the three-day tournament which climaxed on Saturday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.

In their opener against Burundi, the hosts did not break any sweat as they cruised to a 3-0 win and they followed that performance with yet another tantalising straight sets victory over pre-tournament favourites Kenya.

In the final match against Uganda, Rwanda emerged 3-1 victors to secure their ticket to this year’s All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.

"There are better things to come from this team. We struggled a bit against Uganda but our first two games (against Burundi and Kenya) proved that we are a good side,” Bitok said.

The team captain Christophe Mukunzi also commended the role played by the experienced pair of Eric Nsabimana a.k.a Machine and Elie Mutabazi, who plays in France.

"They have been around for some time so their composure and execution was spot on throughout the tournament,” the 21-year-old noted.

The All Africa Games will run from September 1-8.
