Education funding agencies meet in Kigali

KIGALI - Member countries of Association of Higher Education Financing Agencies (AHEFA), Friday, concluded a meeting in Kigali where they shared information and experiences on common matters and increase students’ access to higher education within member countries.The two-day conference which attracted members’ countries from Ghana and regional countries, discussed challenges that affect the body and came up with mechanisms of tackling them.

KIGALI - Member countries of Association of Higher Education Financing Agencies (AHEFA), Friday, concluded a meeting in Kigali where they shared information and experiences on common matters and increase students’ access to higher education within member countries.

The two-day conference which attracted members’ countries from Ghana and regional countries, discussed challenges that affect the body and came up with mechanisms of tackling them.

Erasme Rwanamiza, acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, who officially opened the conference, revealed to the participants that higher education in the country has developed, adding that the association needed to be sustained.

In an exclusive interview with The New Times, the association’s president, Benjamin Chesire Cheboi, observed that many challenges impede the higher education sector in several member countries, adding that the association will intervene to get solutions.

Cheboi also revealed that the association aims at soliciting funds for common development projects in member countries as well as creating a platform for capacity building.

Emma Rubagumya ,the Director General Students Financing Agency for Rwanda (SFAR) disclosed that the association had assisted Rwanda through exchange of experts from various countries, such as Kenya and Tanzania, to streamline SFAR.
