Local rapper, Simchezo is one man who has made showbiz headlines and risen controversies in recent times. He is however determined to keep his music coming and fans singing along.

Simchezo, (real name Saidi Abdul hakim) is one of the four members of Rwanda’s renown reggae group, ‘Family Squad’. He has also done many collaboration songs with several local artists, plus his own solo releases.

Trouble began for the rap star when his alleged ex-girlfriend, one Rebecca claimed Simchezo’s pregnancy. She became famous for her ‘relationship gone badly’ with the 25 year old.

Simchezo on the other hand denies relationships with Rebecca. He blames showbiz media, especially radio presenter Pacson for intensifying the ‘Rebecca problem’.

He was once reported of attacking Pacson in the name of punishing him for intensifying the rumor. Rebecca has finally given up the chase for Simchezo, and Pacson has denied any beatings.

Simchezo on the other hand has vowed to work harder, as in music.

"I know that fans perceive news differently but I will not let my career be victimized,” he says. "In fact I am busier now, to offset that negativity.”

He is working on his planned debut solo album. He has so far finalized three songs including ‘Ndicuza’, ‘Enemy’ and ‘Thirty years in the game’.

All the songs are hip-hop, with RnB blend in chorus and recorded from local ‘One Way Production’ and Uganda’s luminary ‘Swangz Avenue.’
Simchezo also denies any misunderstandings among his ‘Family Squad’ mother group.

"I hear rumors that ‘Family Squad’ split, but that’s not true,” he says.
"We plan to roll again when we join with our TZ based member, Nasir mid this year,” Simchezo adds.

According to the artist, Family Squad is negotiating a deal with their Holland based friend called ‘Black Coffee’. The deal will see them perform in the European country if all goes well.

Both with his group and as a solo rapper, Simchezo has vowed to continue with his music journey.
