Latifat Akimana is the Kinyarwanda news Chief Editor at Radio Rwanda. She is a mother who says taking care of the family is obvious but working is also an obligation.
Below is how she manages her working day responsibilities;
I wake up at 5:30a.m and listen to news both local and international including Voice of Africa, BBC among others.
By 6. 30, I get out of bed for a shower as I listen to Radio Rwanda. I make sure I get to the work place before 7:30.
I check on different websites as well as reading my mails before attending the editorial meeting at 8a.m.
In this meeting, we get news ideas and also determine reporters to cover specific events going on.
I then concentrate on what I have to edit to ensure that we have what make news.
Depending on the work load, I some times find myself having lunch at 3p.m. I normally work until 8p.m when I have to head home since I have a baby.
I spend the evening attending to my children, guiding them through their home work as I also engage in some domestic work. Although not always, I have supper at 9and spend about 30 minutes watching T.V or relaxing before getting to bed.
