KARONGI- In a bid to improve the health status of the local population, FINA Bank is undertaking a countrywide campaign to offer free medical insurance (Mutuelle de Santé) to over 400 underprivileged families.

According to Rosine Ushinzwimpundu, who is in charge of Cooperate Social Responsibility at the bank, the campaign is part of their customary culture of giving back to the society.

"The cause is part our common way of participating and contributing to the social and economic development of the country,” Ushinzwimpundu said.

She explained that the bank’s 10 branches would identify those in need of medical insurance, but can’t afford.

While handing over the medical insurance cards to 40 families in Karongi district yesterday, branch manager, Chaste Nyilinkindi, re-affirmed the commitment to support the local population.

Vianney Uzamukunda, one of the beneficiaries, could not hide his excitement.

"After increase in Mutuelle contributions, I could not even afford to pay for myself,” he said.
