The Private Sector Federation (PSF), the umbrella organisation of the business community has strongly supported the idea of the development partners’ dialogue with government and the private sector.

"As the government seeks to have a private sector led economy, I think it is important to engage PSF in this dialogue since the private sector is a pillar in economic development,” Antoine Manzi, the Director of Employment at PSF said during the development partners retreat at Lake Kivu Serena hotel in Rubavu district.

The retreat is an annual forum, where government asses its achievements as it plans a head by exchanging ideas, seek innovative solutions to development challenges and jointly agree on practical solutions.

Manzi said that PSF uses this forum to do advocacy work for businesses, especially in areas where they encounter challenges.

"Through this forum, we discuss with government challenges affecting us such as infrastructure and how to overcome them so as to achieve our goals,” explained Manzi.

Alluding to the past dialogues, Manzi said that it has helped the private sector to make huge strides through attracting more investors and capital investments into the economy.

He also encouraged businesses to set targets and carry out self assessment along the course of operations in order to measure the progress of their work.
