The federation’s technical director Christian Hatumimana confirmed yesterday that two male and female teams will battle in the tournament.
"We have sent a strong team to Kampala for the qualifiers. We are very optimistic they will put on a good performance. The stakes are high and the players are very much aware of it needed,” noted Hatumimana.
According to the official, the male teams are made up of a pair of Flavien Ndamukunda and Jean Luc Mbonyuwuntuma and Leon Fidel Mutesi pairing with Pierre Kwizera Marchal.
The female teams are comprised of Emerine Uwineza, Denise Mutatsimpundu, Judith Hakizimana, Janeth Niyigena and Yvette Igihozo.
The qualifier was originally set to last three days, but Uganda Volleyball Federation beach volleyball commission chairman Mofaht Masaba said on Friday that they had to adjust because only Kenya and Rwanda had confirmed their presence.
Only hosts Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda have fielded teams to the tournament whose winner qualifies for this year All Africa games to be held in Maputo, Mozambique.
