FINANCIAL constraints have forced Rwanda Amateur Boxing Association (Raba) to pull out of next month’s Inter-cities boxing championship in Kampala.

The body’s technical director who also doubles as the national team coach Gashugi Kananura yesterday said that Raba has failed to secure enough funds to send a team.

"We approached Kigali City Council for support but did not succeed so we have to turn our focus to future competitions,” a disappointed Gashugi said.

The event, which is now expected to attract pugilists from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi, is a build-up to the All Africa Games to be held in Mozambique in September.
