The 21-year-old former ‘American Idol’ contestant and ‘No Air’ singer is the official Starkey Hearing Foundation’s Ambassador.
Founded in 1967, Starkey Hearing Foundation, So the World May Hear, is the global leader in hearing healthcare and is striving to change the social consciousness of hearing and hearing loss prevention.
The stars teamed up with officials from the Foundation in their visits to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi – distributing hearing aides and batteries, custom fittings, audio testing, and counseling on how to care for the devices.
In Rwanda, the delegation visited Akilah Institute in Ruhengeri and Kigali Independent University (ULK).
Meanwhile, the soccer stars left yesterday for Bujumbura with Sparks expected to join them on Friday.
According to Starkey Hearing Foundation, an estimated 63 million children worldwide suffer from hearing loss. Each year, the foundation delivers more than 100,000 hearing aides through hearing missions in different countries across the world.
Since 2000, the Foundation has supplied nearly 500,000 hearing aides to people in need and is striving to achieve its goal of over one million free hearing aides in this decade.
