In yesterday’s issue of The New Times, I read an article about ORINFOR’s plan to censure gory Genocide images.

While I acknowledge that broadcasting gruesome images can cause trauma, I am not sure that censuring them is the best solution.

Is it not possible that a warning is broadcast prior to broadcasting the images? That way, viewers who risk getting traumatized can stop watching the programme and it would show responsibility on the part of the broadcaster.

I am concerned that, by censuring such images, people who do not understand the gravity of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi will never do.  Such images are key to preserving history.
