RwandAir has contracted in-flight entertainment specialist, IFE Services, to supply all on-board entertainment requirements for the national carrier’s new Boeing 737 – 800s.

The aircrafts are due for delivery in July and September later this year.

According to RwandAir officials, the agreement covers the provision of Hollywood and Classic movies, popular TV shows, audio channels and a CD library.

The content will be shown on the airline’s Boeing 737-800 fleet running Panasonic’s eFX audio and visual on demand (AVOD) system.

The entertainment package will be available to RwandAir from June 2011 and will be refreshed every three months, the carrier said.

"For the first time RwandAir will be purchasing two new brand aircraft; Boeing 737 – 800 which we are very proud will be fitted with the latest IFE technology from Panasonic,” RwandAir CEO, John Mirenge, said in a statement.

He added that the prospect of partnering with IFE Services on audio visual content is one that the airline hopes will bring a whole new on-board experience for its customers.

"We have been supplying original, cost-effective in-flight entertainment to airlines globally for many years,” Managing Director of IFE Services, Andy McEwan, was quoted in the statement.

He said that adding a growing and successful airline like RwandAir to its client-base is great news and that they look forward to helping the carrier deliver a fantastic entertainment package to their passengers for many years to come.

The aircraft will be the first on the African continent with the "Sky Interior” concept adopted from the Boeing 787 design officials informed.
