Editor,
I am writing to thank the leadership of Kigali City Council for halting the December 2010 directive that required all business owners, operating in residential premises to either relocate or formally turn their premises to commercial buildings by March 31.
This directive was unfair and was going to affect many businesses. Relocating requires a lot of money. Thank you Mayor Fidele Ndayisaba. What you have done is the best thing for the people of Kigali.
Like the mayor explained, owners of restaurants or bars should be given enough time to get new premises because closing such business that employ and feed many Rwandans would only create misery.
I would like to encourage business people to make sure that they begin thinking of their next move quickly because we need an orderly city.
