Gahanga residents get clean water

Local residents in Amahoro village, Gahanga sector kicukiro district, yesterday, received a clean water source, bringing an end to fetching water from wells that are a health hazard. Residents were using wells that they said caused diseases including dysentery.

Local residents in Amahoro village, Gahanga sector kicukiro district, yesterday, received a clean water source, bringing an end to fetching water from wells that are a health hazard.

Residents were using wells that they said caused diseases including dysentery.

"We have been using dirty water that we fetch from wells but we are now happy that we shall be using clean water,” Bwanuna Mathias a 65 year resident said. "We thank our authorities for fulfilling their obligation to provide clean water”.

Achille Niyireba, the Executive Secretary of Gahanga sector, assured the residents that the government is committed to supporting developmental activities that will improve their lives.

"We should always work together that’s when you will get even more. You have received clean water and an administrative block, I can assure you that in by the end of May, everybody will get electricity,” Niyireba said.

The chief of Amahoro village, Ntambara Emanuel, told the residents that it is their responsibility to develop their village.
