The national U-23 coach Eric Nshimiyimana is confident his team’s chances of getting an away win against Zambia in next week’s 2012 Men’s Olympic qualifier.

The 39-year-old was impressed by the team’s superb display against World Cup bound Junior Wasps (U-17). The U-23 beat thrashed their young counterparts 3-0 in a build-up game played on Friday evening at Amahoro stadium.

Hegman Ngomirakiza, Dady Kibaya and Fabrice Twagizimana scored the U-23 side’s goals in a game that they largely controlled.

Although he does not have much information about his opponents, Nshimiyimana is adamant that if his strikers maintain their sharpness, then a win in Zambia in possible.

"I have been impressed by the level of sharpness being exhibited by the strikers, and if they can maintain this kind of form, then we can win in Zambia,” the former Amavubi Stars skipper noted.

The U-23 side is expected to play another friendly on Tuesday against a yet to be confirmed opponents before departing for Lusaka on Thursday.

The winner of the two-legged match will proceed to the second round were the top 12 teams will progress into the third and final qualification round.
