On his first day in Rwanda, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, on Tuesday, February 21, paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Accompanied by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, and Director of the General Intelligence Department Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, he laid wreaths at the Kigali Genocide Memorial – the final resting place for more than 250,000 people – and held a moment of silence to honor the victims.

The delegation later toured the memorial.
"It is totally heart breaking as I pay respect to the victims of this horrific genocide today”, said Safadi, "this memorial shows what hatred, ignorance and discrimination can produce.”
"The Rwanda of today shows that peace, truth, justice, reconciliation and acceptance of each other as one results in goodness and prosperity,” he added. "This is a reminder to the whole world that nothing but evil comes from hatred and Rwanda of today approves that reconciliation is a source of the good.”
