13 compete for Miss & Mr. EA University Rwanda chapter

TODAy, thousands of viewers across the country will tune on their TV sets to watch the grand finale of the Rwanda edition/ Miss and Mr. East Africa University at Kigali Serena Hotel.With only six slots available, 13 contestants will compete and the eventual six finalists (three girls and three boys) will proceed to the regional contest due in May in Dar-es-Salam, where they will compete with other contestants from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi.

TODAy, thousands of viewers across the country will tune on their TV sets to watch the grand finale of the Rwanda edition/ Miss and Mr. East Africa University at Kigali Serena Hotel.

With only six slots available, 13 contestants will compete and the eventual six finalists (three girls and three boys) will proceed to the regional contest due in May in Dar-es-Salam, where they will compete with other contestants from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi. 

According to the organisers of the Miss and Mr. East Africa University (Rwanda chapter), IPROMO, the 1st and 2nd winners will go on a trip to Brazzaville and Bujumbura respectively.

Miss Burundi 2011, Aniella Muheza, encouraged the contestants to be confident and knowledgeable about the current affairs.
"You have to be confident of yourself and well informed about the events taking place in the region and beyond in order to win the competition,” Muheza urged.

Nadege Nana Uwamahoro, the manager of the contestants, observed: "To be a Miss or Mr, it doesn’t necessarily mean beauty. The physical beauty is key yes, but there are other fundamental factors like general knowledge,” she added.
Jean Pierre Higiro from the IPROMO said "Parents are gradually understanding the concept of Miss or Mr. unlike in the previous years when the concept was misinterpreted.”
The advisor of the Minister in the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Lauren Makuza, said the contest was also open to foreign students in Rwandan institution s of higher learning.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. Entrance fee is Rwf5, 000 in the ordinary section and Rwf15,000 in the VIP section with a drink.
Special guests are beauty queens from the other East African Community partner states. The event also will be graced by local artists, Knowles, Kitoko, Dream Boys and Machinal Dance Group. Two comedians, Gratien and Ndahiro will also entertain the audience.
