I would like to respond to a story which appeared in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes titled "Health journalism awards to be held today”. For many years, journalists have done a great job of educating and informing society.

 Good journalists play a leading role in transforming their countries.

Journalists also help the government know what is not going on well and respond accordingly.

As the Director General of the Rwanda Health Communication Centre (RHCC) put it, journalists who excel should always be recognized and appreciated because then they realize their importance in transforming society.
