AFTER finishing the first half of the Primus league with a 100% record, APR coach Ernst Brandts has challenged his team to finish the season unbeaten.

The military side’s domestic form has been staggering after winning all 11 of their primus league matches that included a dramatic 3-2 victory over arch rivals Rayon Sport despite the military playing with 10 men for most of the match.

Brandts is confident that if his players don’t pick many injuries or accumulate many cards, then going the whole season unbeaten is very feasible.

"The most important thing is always to win the next match. I’m confident that if the players don’t pick up injuries during their international engagements and they don’t get cards, then we can finish the season unbeaten,” the Dutchman said.

APR players make up the bulk of the national team, contributing 13 of the 23 man Amavubi squad.
Rayon Sport and Police have 2 each, while Etincelles, Kiyovu and Police have one player each in the squad.
The rest are professionals.

APR are the most successful team in the league after winning 12 league titles in 16 years but the military side fans yearn for continental glory.

APR has failed to transform its domestic form to continental competitions.  The military side last reached the second round of the Champions League in 2004 under the stewardship of Jean Marie Ntagwabira, now currently with Kiyovu football club.

The military side was recently knocked out of the CAF Champions’ League after losing to Tunisian side club Africain 4-0 in the return leg in Tunis. The first leg in Kigali ended 2-2.
