Zambia target Rwanda scalp in Olympic qualifier

ZAMBIA’s football association has announced their U-23 team which will face Rwanda in the London 2012 Olympic Games preliminary round, first leg qualifier due to be played on March 27 in Lusaka.

Head coach Lucky Msiska has included Russian-based midfielder Chisamba Lungu (FC Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast) in his team.

Lungu returns to the international fold after suffering an injury during the senior teams outing at the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Tanzania last December.

According to Times of Zambia, Msiska also confirmed that he needs two or three professional players to add some depth to this team.

He is however, waiting for senior team head coach Dario Bonetti to name his senior squad for its 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations Group C qualifier against Mozambique before deciding which foreign-based players to add to his team.

Zambia named a 25-member list but because of logistical problems, the camp was called off last month. In the new team that started training on Monday.

The other influnetial player on the team is former Zambia Under-20 midfielder Musonda Munaile of Zanaco.

Rwanda, under the guidance of APR assistant coach Eric Nshimiyimana also started residential training on Monday.
