KAMONYI – As part of their contribution towards improvement of education standards in the country, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has commissioned a new primary school complex in Musambira Sector, Kamonyi District. The school was constructed in the framework of private public partnership (PPP).

The project, worth US$235,000, was inaugurated last week in Kavumu Cell by Kim Sang Chul, KOICA resident representative, in the presence of local leaders and residents.

The new school has an administration block, two buildings for students, six classrooms, toilets, and basketball and volleyball courts.

"I believe the project will benefit residents of Kamonyi District in particular, but also the country at large. I am grateful and I hope that the relationship between Kamonyi District and KOICA will be strengthened further,” Kim Sang Chul, said.

The District’s Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, Marie Alice Uwera, thanked the Korean agency for its support, which she said will help reduce school dropout in the area.
"The school will resolve the problem of close to 600 students travelling  long distances,” Uwera said.

She urged residents to take good care of the school and to ensure a clean and healthy learning environment.
A representative of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) welcomed the donation, saying it will help improve education standards in Musambira.
