Davite makes bright start to 2011 ARC

RWANDA’S rally driver Davite Giancarlo enjoyed a dazzling start to this year’s FIA Africa Rally Championship calendar following his third place finish in the Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally over the weekend.

The Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally, which is the opening round of the busy Africa Rally Championship was won by Conrad Rautenbach for the second year running.

Rautenbach led the opening round of the 2011 FIA African Rally Championship from start to finish in his Ford Fiesta S2000. James Whyte was second overall aboard a Subaru Impreza, while Giancarlo Davite claimed third spot in a similar car.

Giancarlo came 655 seconds behind Rautenabch.
On Saturday, Giancarlo finished second by 241 seconds behind Rautenbach while on Friday’s super special stage; the Rwandan ace came in eighth position clocking 5:39.

Giancarlo returns home today to continue preparations for the upcoming Sasol Rally due in South Africa from April 15-17.
