Tardy names Mexico World Cup team

The national U-17 team head coach Richard Tardy has named his final team for the Fifa World Cup. The team started residential training yesterday at Amahoro stadium. The Fifa U-17 World Cup is set for June 18-July 10 in Mexico.

The national U-17 team head coach Richard Tardy has named his final team for the Fifa World Cup. The team started residential training yesterday at Amahoro stadium. The Fifa U-17 World Cup is set for June 18-July 10 in Mexico.

The French-born tactician summoned a 22-man team which is composed of local players drawn from Ferwafa, SEC and APR football academies.

The other new players that are joining the team include Bright Haguma (SC Villa, Uganda), Alex Mupense (Proline Academy) and Freddy Rangira, a student goalkeeper based in Burundi.

Rayon Sport defender Faustin Usengimana, who scored two goals in the Africa U-17 Championship was also summoned.
Proline academy’s influential pair of Andrew Buteera and Charles Tibingana Mwesigye will join the team before the end of the month while Nancy midfielder Bon Fils Kabandais expected to link up with the team when they head to Europe for camp early next month.

Rwanda won silver after losing the final match of the Africa U-17 Championship to Burkina Faso 1-2 early in the year.
Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Congo Brazzaville will represent Africa at the World Cup finals.
