As a way of combating Gender Based Violence in Society, ActionAid Rwanda initiated Sarah Club in over 14 School in Nyanza District. The club at Mpanga Primary School sensitizes students of both genders about the different types of abuse.
"In Sarah Club, we are taught that abuse is a bad vice and we should report anyone who tries to beat another. I look after my friends so that no one beats them. ”

"Abuse in families is a bad example for children. Fighting amongst parents is not good for us children. We have to report such cases to the authorities. I’m lucky I have never seen my parents fighting.”

"The lessons from Sarah Club have made me a better person. I avoid insulting people when in groups and on my way home. I don’t even abuse children in lower classes.”

"Abuse leads to several problems such as divorce. I learnt that when my parents fight, I can talk to them and tell them the bad things that come out of abuse. They will listen to me because they know I learn a lot while at school and respect my advice.”
