KIGALI - The new Mayor of Kigali City, Fidele Ndayisaba, vowed to prioritize the fight against misuse of public funds in the city during his tenure.

Addressing a meeting that brought together the city’s advisory council and the executive committee, yesterday, the former Southern Province Governor warned against mismanagement of public resources, saying it derails development.

"In order to improve the status of our city and country, there is need for optimal utilization of public resources to achieve our targets,” he said.

He promised to always ensure a clean audit report for KCC and to make it public. Ndayisaba pledged to fight injustice, and to consolidate peace and security, since this is the pillar of any development agenda.

Ndayisaba also pointed out that his administration will carry on with the mission of turning the country’s capital into a modern metropolitan city, complete with quality healthcare and good infrastructure.

He also vowed to cultivate and cement ties between Kigali and other cities around the world, and to sell the city as a major investment destination.
