World Vision donates cows to the vulnerable

KIGALI - World Vision Rwanda, Friday donated over ten Friesian cows worth Rwf 7 million to vulnerable residents in Jabana Sector, Gasabo District.

Alphrodise Muhashyi,, in charge of World Vision in Kigali and Eastern Province, said that the donation is aimed at helping the beneficiaries fight against poverty.

"The donation is in line with the government program of One-cow per-family. And one of World Vision’s missions is to help children, families and communities to overcome poverty,” Muhashyi said.

The beneficiaries include vulnerable residents from various cooperatives in the sector who are widows and those living with HIV/Aids.

Specioza Gasengayire, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, said: "I thank World Vision for having donated these cows to us because this will help us to fight against malnutrition.”

She added that the donation will also increase their agricultural production using the manure produced by the cows

The Executive Secretary of Jabana Sector, Mapambano Nyiridandi, requeste the NGO to extend similar donations to other sectors in Gasabo District which have vulnerable residents in order to bail them from poverty.
