KIGALI - Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC) has secured rights to examine students who will be sitting for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) examinations.

According to Tembue Zembele, RTUC acting Rector, students have been travelling to Nairobi, Kenya where they had to do their exams.

IATA examinations are set twice a year, in March and September and internationally done on the same day and time.

"After representatives from IATA visited and assessed the institution, they recommended we have the potential for students to do the exams from here,” said Zembele.
He noted that it has been expensive for both students and the institution, adding that the shift will make the course more affordable.

Zembele stated that RTUC will also act as a centre for students from other neighbouring countries; including Burundi and DRC.
George Moemi, a lecturer of the IATA programme called upon Rwandan students to take advantage of the opportunity.

The school offers the United Federation of Travel Agents Association program comprising of four different diploma levels, and upon completion, a Bachelors in Travel and Tourism is awarded.
