Eddie Mico, a recording gospel artist said he was inspired by his grandfather to join the music industry.
The 23 year-old said he started singing professionally in 2008 and has since climbed the ranks to be among the most liked gospel artists in the country.
"I attribute all my success in music to my family. My grandfather was a pianist. I used to admire him when he played a piano. He encouraged me to play it too,” said Mico.
Mico also said he was further pushed by the choir and he now dreams of taking his music to the international stage.
"After my studies I want to concentrate on promoting my music,” he said.
Mico is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Finance at School of Finance and Banking. He said he will integrate the management and planning skills into the music industry.
"You see what is still lagging behind with the music industry in Rwanda is lack of management skills by most artistes to promote their music, but if we can improvise with the knowledge we get from schools, we can reach far,” he underscored.
Mico’s role model is a renowned American performing gospel artist called Donnie McClurkin.
Mico has so far released a 10-song album dubbed "You are amazing” produced by Narrow Road Production. His first single was "I live for you.” He has also done a video of his current household song "Mubonabonye.”
