A group of Indian investors are looking at investing in the higher education sector in the country with a view of exploring and developing the country’s concept of Science and technology.

They are considering setting up a campus of the Bangalore-based Jain University here, as part of their long term strategy for partnership.

The University has also introduced scholarships for Rwandan students, and is going into partnership with local universities to support higher education. It is through international partnership and collaboration that our universities will become reputable centres of excellence and cutting edge research institutions.

This is an opportunity that higher institutions of learning should take and work towards forging more partnerships with other universities of international standing. The focus on science and technology is a clear appreciation of the national development agenda.

It is through investment in science research and technology that a nation can take off and realize its development agenda. And universities have a role to play. It is impearative that more students, especially girls, are mentored to embrace and work towards excelling in science subjects early on.

These targets in the education sector are achievable. Focused leadership has made Rwanda an investment attraction in different sectors, and all stakeholders have to play their part to realize the set targets.
