Jean Baptista a.k.a Migi helped himself to a stunning header of his career to extend APR’s unbeaten league run after a 3-2 win over Rayon Sport in the Primus National Football League, yesterday, at Amahoro stadium.
The hardworking midfielder benefitted from a sublime cross from substitute Bebeto Lwamba to head past Rayon Sport goalie Ismail Mfashingabo on the 90th minute.
The victory helped APR maintain their clean sheet, amassing 30 points in ten matches played this season.
Influential midfielder Kabange Twite scored a brace on 13th and 30th meeting both Hegman and Didier Sery Logba fine set-pieces.
However Sina Jerome and Abouba Sibomana cancelled the lead with fantastic goals on 21st and 39th minutes before both teams went into recess.
An enthralling encounter between the two rivalry teams threatened to boil over before the interval when referee Louis Hakizimana sent off APR’s midfielder Logbo Sery Didier for elbowing Abouba Sibomana.
After recess, both sides were shy to find the goal but the blues dominated the midfield until 65th minute when coach Ernest Brandts introduced Jean Iranzi, Bebeto and Ernest Kwizera for Haruna Niyonzima, Abbas Rassou and Hegman Ngoma.
For Rayon Sport who have been experiencing internal management problems never looked comfortable on an afternoon when very few of the home team reached anywhere the exacting standards coach Emmanuel Ruremesha demands.
The blues had their creative Congolese midfielder Mwanaume Hamisi sent off for abusive language on Iranzi with one minute to stoppage time, a feat which lifted APR’s attacking mood to look for a winner which they certainly attained.
Rayon Sport still remain on fourth position of the Primus league standings with 17 points in eleven matches played this season.
Meanwhile, Jean Marie Ntagwabira will be hoping for a victory when SC Kiyovu hosts Etincelles this afternoon at Nyamirambo stadium, Ostine Arinaitwe continues to report.
The old giants have been besieged with off field problems which have seen players abscond training for the last whole week due to unpaid salary arrears.
"There are no guarantees that we can win tomorrow (today). The club has hardly trained in the past week,” said a disappointed Ntagwabira.
Kiyovu sits second on the league table with 22 points, five points ahead of rivals Etincelles.
