RAYON Sport stands between APR and a tenth successive league win this season. The army side has been in sensational form this season after a run of nine wins on the trot to open up a five-point lead at the top of the league table.

The teams renew their rivalry this afternoon at Amahoro stadium with still plenty to play for. APR’s head coach Ernie Brandts knows that victory today will push them closer to a 12th league title, while a win for Rayon trims down APR’s lead to seven points.
The reigning champions have been boosted by the return of Malawi international Victor Nyirenda and midfield maestro Jean Baptist Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi.

Early this week, the pair was a doubt for the grand clash after sustaining knocks in last week’s Orange Champions League second leg defeat against Club Africain.
However, APR’s new signings Joseph Bwalya, Johnson Bagoole and Kipson Atuheire are all set to miss the tie as the club continues to chase for their international transfer certificates. Even without the trio, Brandts is confident his team will prevail.

"We are on a good run and the confidence in the team is up there ahead of the Rayon game. It is my first test of the great rivalry and I’m backing my side to win the contest,” the Dutchman said.
Meanwhile, Rayon will miss the services of their new coach Andy Mfutila. The Congolese has failed to recover from Malaria.

This means that the club’s coaching assistants Emmanuel Ruremesha and Rajab Bizimuremye will handle the game.
"We are prepared for the match and the mood in the dressing room is very good, and we believe we can end APR’s winning streak,” Ruremesha added.

Despite only one defeat this season, the Blues still find themselves 10 points off the pace after drawing too many games (fives).
