Last week, as I retired from work, I came across a young girl who was on her way home all by herself. Her miserable look attracted my attention. I involved her in a conversation and this is what came of it.

Chaka: Excuse me, how are you?

Angel: (she answers shyly) I am fine.

Chaka: What is your name?

Angel: My name is Angel Nyirabahire.

Chaka: How old are you?

Angel: I am 12 years old.

Chaka: Where do you go to school?

Angel: I go to Rugando Primary School.

Chaka: In which class are you?

Angel: I am in P.2A

Chaka: where are you coming from?

Angel: I am coming from school.

Chaka: School at such a time? Why are you alone at such a late time? ( it was around six o’clock).

Angel: The rain found me at school. I had to wait until it stopped.

Chaka: what does your father and mother do for a living?

Angel: My father digs holes (manholes); my mother does nothing, she stays at home.

Chaka: How many children are you at home?

Angel: We are five, three boys and two girls and I am the youngest.

Chaka: Can I escort you to your home?

Angel: Yes.

Chaka: (I reach her home but did not enter). Thank you for your time Angel.

Angel: You’re welcome, Bye bye… good night Chaka.
