François-Xavier Ngarambe, 48, whose songs first hit the charts in the early1980s, has released his first studio album ‘Umwana ni Umutware’.

The 10-track album, recorded in Paris, includes, ‘Tenda Mema’, 'Umwana ni Umutware’, ‘Ingabire’ ‘and ‘Umusozi w’Amahoro’ that communicate joy and complexity of love and relationships.

Although the album is laced with a collaboration of various artistes, including Karim, Killy, Richard, Zawadi, Emmanuel, Shanel, Eugénie and Lauren, Ngarambe’s smooth, hypnotic vocals permeate throughout.

"It just seemed right to release an album because, since I started singing, I had never recorded any single, or  an album.  I need to leave a legacy and to help people get my music from the stores,” Ngarambe explained.

Ngarambe told The New Times that two of the songs, ‘Mama mwiza’ and ‘Umwana ni umutware’ are already on YouTube.

Although, the name François-Xavier Ngarambe is not common in the music scene, he is a long-time singer and released his first track aged 12. Today, Ngarambe has more than 50 singles on his credit.

Most of his songs, like, ‘Umusozi w’Amahoro’ have been enjoying massive airtime for so long and, 'Umwana ni Umutware’ was, in 1987, voted Best Song in the Découvertes 87 music competition.

Ngarambe is a gifted singer, and his extensive background in music allowed him to exploit his smooth and heartfelt lyrics.
