School donates goats to vulnerable students

GATSIBO- Bihinga Secondary School in Kabarore Sector, Gatsibo District donated more than 30 goats to vulnerable students.The goats were from the school’s farm.Oliver Mbabazi, the school head teacher, said that the initiative was meant to minimize school dropout rate.

"We felt we should help vulnerable students who had started dropping out of school due to poverty….that is how we came up with this initiative of donating goats to them,” he said.

According to Mbabazi, students were selected basing on family background and their parents represented them at the function.

"They will at least help them to sort out some problems like lack scholastic materials.”

Parents thanked the school management for the contribution in educating their children and promised to take good care of the donations.The headmaster added that the school also plans to reach out to vulnerable residents.
