NYAGATARE-A 28-year-old man is detained at Gatunda Police Station in Nyagatare district after he was caught in the girls’ dormitory at SOPEM Rukomo Secondary School.

According to Police, the suspect, who only identified himself as Gisimba, was caught by one of the students while entering the dormitory in the wee hours of last Sunday."We heard students shouting for help. We intervened and arrested this man in the dormitory,” a police official told The New Times.

When The New Times visited the school on Monday, one of the students, Claudine Uwimpuhwe, narrated how the man was spotted by the dorm captain.

 "We were deeply asleep at around 3.30 a.m. Our dorm captain went out for a short call and saw a naked man approaching the dormitory. She hid, locked the door and woke us up.

We shouted and called the police,” she said.According to students, it is the first time an outsider had invaded the school’s dormitories.

Theoteste Habihirwe, the director of studies at the school, thanked the students for their bravely and called on others to be vigilant.The dormitory accommodates over 250 girls.
