The move by police to investigate former Mayor of Rutsiro District, Jean Ndimubahire to ascertain whether he tried to frame a police officer on rape charges is commendable.

I wish also to commend the independence of our judges who studied the case against Gaspard Rwegeranya carefully. The police and other investigators in Rutsiro must look into this case carefully and get to the bottom of the matter.

Reports that Ndimubahire was involved in a corruption scandal must also be looked into. We need to know whether it is true that the former Mayor was framing Rwegeranya to cover up his own mess.
