The local football governing body, Ferwafa has short listed 24 players to start preparations ahead of Rwanda’s final Group five Nations’ Cup qualifier against Liberia on September 8.

 It has been confirmed that the Amavubi Stars will undergo a ten-day residential training in the Northern Province.

 According to the federation Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa, the team will enter camp tomorrow, a day after the end of the league season.

"I think the selected squad is strong enough and I don’t see why they should not pick maximum points against Liberia,” Kalisa said.

 The summoned lot comprises of 20 local-based players plus four professional players.

 APR contributes the lion’s share with nine, Rayon Sport, Atraco, Etincelles and SC Kiyovu have each contributed two players while Mukura has contributes one.

 The professional list includes; Olivier Karekezi (Sweden), Said Abed Makasi (Israel), Jimmy Mulisa (Belgium) and Ramadhan Nkunzingoma (D.R.Congo). Rwanda is at the foot of the Group with three points after managing just one win in five games.

 As Rwanda hosts Liberia, group leaders Cameroon will be away to Equatorial Guinea.

Cameroon has already qualified to take part in the 2008 Ghana African Nations Cup.
