THE Confederation of African Football (Caf) has "indefinitely postponed” the African U20 championship, which had been scheduled to take place in Libya.

The move has been taken because of what Caf called "security concerns and the current unstable political situation” in Libya.

The event had been due to kick-off on March 18 and end on April 1. A new location and timescale will be confirmed in the next few days, according to a Caf statement.
A new date and venue needs to be determined quickly because the semi-finalists will be Africa’s representatives at the U20 World Cup in Colombia later this year.

Ghana and South Africa have both been mentioned as possible stand-in hosts.
