Gasabo donates food to vulnerable families

GASABO - The management of Gasabo District yesterday donated an assortment of food stuffs to 19 vulnerable families in Rusororo sector.

The items included one tonne of beans, a tonne of Maize flour and ten bags of Rice.

Ibrahim Ndagijimana, the Executive Secretary of Gasabo District, said that the food will sustain the beneficiaries in Kinyana cell for a period of two months.

Ndagijimana pointed out that in addition to the food items, the district employees gave Rwf600,000 to families in Kinyana cell as their contribution towards the Bye-bye Nyakatsi campaign.

He added that the employees together with Police authorities in the district also donated an assortment of clothes to the group.

The district employees together with security authorities carried out community work in Kinyana cell where foundations for 12 houses for vulnerable residents were constructed.

"It’s our concern as employees of Gasabo District to eradicate thatched houses in this country,” Ndagijimana said.

He noted that they have plans to donate similar items to other vulnerable residents in other sectors which still have thatched houses.
