I am writing to emphasize a point advanced by the president of the High Court and Principal Judge at the East African Court of Justice (EACJ). Johnston Busingye,  during a forum that brought together heads of Primary, Intermediate and the High Courts, countrywide called for professionalism.

True, the judiciary is supposed to deliver service to the people before advancing their own interests. Impartiality being one of the signs of a good justice system should be upheld such that people feel free to go to court, whenever they have grievances to express.

This trust in the judicial system shows how professional the justice system is and the fact that people’s interests are priority. Like George Washington said, "Administration of justice is the firmest pillar of government. Law exists to bind together the community; it is sovereign and cannot be violated with impunity."

I would like to request all parties in the judicial system to take serious note of the president of the High Court’s statement and be professional to ensure that the citizens get their rights.
