POLICE STATEMENT

Last night at about 2030 Hrs a grenade was hurled on a passenger minibus parked on Kimisagara Road, Nyakabanda sector in Nyarugenege District, Kigali City.

Last night at about 2030 Hrs a grenade was hurled on a passenger minibus parked on Kimisagara Road, Nyakabanda sector in Nyarugenege District, Kigali City.

The security personnel in the area immediately intervened. 10 people sustained minor injuries and were immediately evacuated to Kigali Central University Hospital (CHUK).

Three suspects were arrested. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to the criminal network of FDLR and the Kayumba Nyamwasa and Patrick Karegyeya renegade group. This is further corroborated by the criminals that were recently arrested with grenades on a similar mission. The criminals are part of the network that is currently on trial.

The objective of this and other previous attacks is to terrorize the public.

The Rwanda National Police takes this opportunity to thank members of the general public for their continued support and cooperation as well as their active role in apprehending these terrorists. The Rwanda National Police further urges the public to maintain constant vigilance.
