B-ball courts set for new look

RWANDA’s basketball body, Ferwaba is set to upgrade all local basketball courts to meet FIBA (the world basketball governing body)’s new court lining. According to Ferwaba’s technical director Shema Maboko, the two lines that run from the baseline to the free throw line have in the past been spread out but according to the new FIBA initiative, they will be straight and parallel to the court’s sidelines.

RWANDA’s basketball body, Ferwaba is set to upgrade all local basketball courts to meet FIBA (the world basketball governing body)’s new court lining.

According to Ferwaba’s technical director Shema Maboko, the two lines that run from the baseline to the free throw line have in the past been spread out but according to the new FIBA initiative, they will be straight and parallel to the court’s sidelines.

He added that, "This will help our athletes to adjust easily when they join teams in Europe. With the new rule, the players will fit in easily.”

Meanwhile, APR, CSK, Espoir and reigning league champions Kigali Basketball Club (KBC) are expected to participate in Burundi’s annual Rutsindura memorial tournament.

They will play against Burundi’s New Stars and Urunani Stars in the three-day tournament which starts this Friday at parquet indoor stadium in Bujumbura.
