As the world stands up to the fight against environmental degradation, the government of Rwanda has been at the forefront in keeping the country green.

However, I have noticed the reluctance of the private sector in this initiative. It’s very true that private companies are usually profit- minded and always try their best to cut expenses, but I want to put it straight that they should join the government in tackling environmental degradation.

Environmental protection has become a global initiative and it should be everyone’s concern.  No country is an exception to environmental pollution; not even the super powers in the west.

In Rwanda, I am happy that the government is supporting plastic waste recycling factories. Private firms that pollute the environment with plastics should set up their own recycling facilities with the help of the profits they make and not the other way round.

Many lives are lost every year due to environmental hazards. I thank the government in its environmental endeavors, mainly the making of the environmental laws that have helped in protecting our environment.
