First Lady joins Ndera residents in Umuganda

GASABO - The First Lady, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame, participated in a special Umuganda function in Gasabo District, Ndera Sector, to mark the opening of the Girls and Women’s Week ending on March 8.
Women’s Day worldwide is celebrated on March 8.

Accompanied by several ministers, yesterday, Mrs. Kagame together with close to 2,000 residents cleared land and laid foundations for houses to be built for poor people in Ndera.
Under the "Bye Bye Nyakatsi” program, 300 houses will be built for those who previously had no decent shelter.

At the end of the function, Mrs. Kagame commended the residents of Ndera for their commitment to support development projects, particularly those that empower women

"As women we learnt and decided to have a Women and Girls Week, to emphasize the woman’s role in development by offering services to our society.” Mrs. Kagame said.

She encouraged the local leaders present to work closely with the community in order to identify their challenges.
The First Lady also urged the residents to support and fully utilize government projects implemented in their area in order to improve their lives.
