Elected District Mayors

30 district mayors and their deputies were yesterday elected by District Advisory Councils, countrywide. Gasabo Willy Ndizeye, was re-elected the Mayor of Gasabo District for the next five years.Ndizeye stood unopposed and polled 274 votes out of 277 total votes cast. Jean Claude Murara and Louise Uwimana were elected as the vice mayors in charge of finance and economic development and social affairs, respectively.

30 district mayors and their deputies were yesterday elected by District Advisory Councils, countrywide.

Gasabo

Willy Ndizeye, was re-elected the Mayor of Gasabo District for the next five years.
Ndizeye stood unopposed and polled 274 votes out of 277 total votes cast.

Jean Claude Murara and Louise Uwimana were elected as the vice mayors in charge of finance and economic development and social affairs, respectively.


Nyarugenge

Former Executive Secretary of Kigali City, Solange Mukasonga, was voted in as Mayor, while Felicien Kagisha, who has been serving as the election coordinator in the city, was elected Vice Mayor in charge of finance and economic development. Pierre Karisa took the post of vice-Mayor in charge of social affairs.


Kicukiro

Paul Jules Ndamage, was re-elected as the Mayor of Kicukiro District with 163 votes out of 171 votes cast.

Angelique Mukunde was elected as the vice Mayor in charge of Economic development with 153 votes, while Florence Uwayisaba was elected vice mayor in charge of social affairs with 152 votes.

Dr Jean Nyirahabimana, a lecturer at the National University of Rwanda was elected the new president of Kucukiro District Advisory Council.

Gakenke

Deogratias Nzamwita, won the Gakenke district seat, replacing Pierre Damien Hakizayezu who did not seek re-election.

Nzamwita, who has been the district Vice Mayor in charge of economic development in nearby Rulindo District, won with a comfortable margin with 351 votes to beat his challenger Celestin Niyobita who got 14 votes.

The former chairman of the Advisory Council, Zephrin Ntakirutimana, will take charge of social affairs, while Clemence Ugiribanga, was elected vice mayor in charge of economic affairs.

Musanze

The incumbent, Winifrida Mpebyemungu, was re elected. She garnered 271 votes to defeat her rival Gaspard Nzamwitakuze, a fellow councillor in the district, who got 15 votes.

The Vice Mayors elected in Musanze District included Jerome Mugenzi, who was re-elected as the in charge of economic affairs, while Vincent Ndayambaje was elected for social affairs replacing Pascal Butunge.

Burera

The incumbent Mayor, Samuel Sembagari, bounced back after garnering 309 votes, against 17 votes got by his rival, Janviere Uwihirwe.

The Vice mayor in charge of Economic Affairs, Joseph Zaraduhaye, while Marie Florence Uwambaje, was elected as the new face in charge of social affairs.

 
Rubavu

Incumbent Sheikh Hassan Bahame retained the Rubavu seat.
 He garnered 243 votes out of a total 258 voters to beat Jackline Mukarukundo, his only rival in the race, who scored 12 votes. The exercise registered 3 invalid votes.
Nyabihu
 Nyabihu’s new mayor is Jean Baptiste Nsengiyumva who collected 214 votes, beating Gaspard Ndagijimana with 9 votes.

Nyamagabe

In Nyamagabe District, Philbert Mugisha, a new entrant, went through unopposed with 279 votes.

Nyanza

In Nyanza District, incumbent Abdallah Murenzi was unopposed with 190 votes out of 196.
 
Gisagara
Leandres Karekezi bounced back in Gisagara district unopposed.

Nyaruguru

In Nyaruguru District, Francois Habitegeko emerged as a new face unopposed with 283 votes out of 298.

Huye

In Huye District, Eugene Muzuka Kayiranga also passed unopposed with 296 votes out of 313. He is also a new face.

Ruhango

Francois Xavier Mbabazi is the new Mayor of Ruhango after garnering 193 votes out of 199.

Rulindo

Incumbent, Justus Kangwagye, swept the polls. He garnered 330 votes out of 347 votes cast, beating his rival, Innocent Dusabemuremyi, a teacher at Rusiga High School who got 17 votes.

Gicumbi

Bonane Nyangezi, won a second term after trouncing his rival Jean Baptist Habyarimana with 353 votes against 38 for Habyarimana.

Gatsibo

Ambrose Ruboneza was elected as the new Mayor of Gatsibo. He ran unopposed snd received 215 votes out of 220.

Nyagatare

Incumbent Mayor, Fred Sabitti Atuhe, was re-elected with 326 votes out of 328.
Kicukiro

Paul Jules Ndamage was re-elected with 163 votes out of 171 votes cast.

Angelique Mukunde was elected as his vice Mayor in charge of Economic development with 153 votes, while Florence Uwayisaba was elected vice mayor in charge of social affairs with 152 votes.

Karongi

Incumbent Bernard Kayumba contested unopposed and won with an overwhelming majority of 249 out of 252 votes.

Embattled former Rutsiro Mayor, Jean Ndimubahire was replaced by the former District Director of Planning and monitoring, Gaspard Byukusenge who beat two other contestants with 201 out of 205 votes.

Kayonza

New face John Mugabo won with 206 votes out of 266.
 
Ngoma

In Ngoma District, incumbent mayor Francois Ntiyotwagira, polled 192 votes out of 297 to retain the seat.
 
Kirehe

 incumbent Protais Murayire sailed through with 253 votes out of 285.
 
Bugesera

Incumbent Louis Rwagaju won with 293 votes out of 301.
 
Rwamagana

In Rwamagana, Nehemie Uwimana, retained the seat with 299 votes out of 305.

Ngororero

Gedeon Ruboneza retained the district seat after prevailing against Donatila Niyigena with 249 votes out of 254.

Nyamasheke

Jean Baptist Habyarimana, polled 261 out of 261 to retain the Nyamasheke District seat, representing 100%. His opponent Sarpiere Muhinde stood down at the last moment.

Rusizi

The former Vice Mayor for Economic affairs, Oscar Nzeyimana won the election as Mayor for Rusizi district. Nzeyimana got 23 votes out of 31, while his challenger
Eraste Nyandwi got only 8 votes.

Muhanga

Mayor Yvonne Mutakwasuku (incumbent) secured victory with 184 votes out of 245.

Kamonyi
                                                                                     Incumbent Jacques Rutsinga retained the seat.
