Red Cross donates cows to vulnerable families

KAYONZA - Thirty three poor families in Nyamirama Sector, Kayonza District Friday received a cow each from Rwanda Red Cross (RRC) in a bid to economically empower them .Through the Vulnerability Capacity Assessment (VCA) programme, Nyamirama was identified as the Sector with most vulnerable residents in the district, prompting the Red Cross to support them.

KAYONZA - Thirty three poor families in Nyamirama Sector, Kayonza District Friday received a cow each from Rwanda Red Cross (RRC) in a bid to economically empower them .

Through the Vulnerability Capacity Assessment (VCA) programme, Nyamirama was identified as the Sector with most vulnerable residents in the district, prompting the Red Cross to support them.

"I am grateful for having been selected to receive a cow. Today is an important day in my life and I am sure I will also be able to get milk just like those first beneficiaries,” said Andrew Murenzi, one of the beneficiaries.

The president of Rwanda Red Cross, Dr. Bernard Nzigiye, called upon the beneficiaries to take good care of the cows.

"These cows given to you should be taken good care of so that its offspring can also be passed on to your neighbour,” Nzigiye said.

The District Executive Secretary, Ronald Kiwanuka, commended the support, calling upon residents to work even harder to promote themselves.
